The “Games Emblem” for the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics.
\nOn September 3, the emblem for the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics was finally chosen from among three finalist designs created by students at Tsukuba University of Technology, the only national university for the hearing impaired in Japan!<\/p>\n

This is a work by Ibuki Tada, a fourth-year student in the Department of Synthetic Design, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Tsukuba University of Technology.<\/p>\n
Hand
\nIt represents a \u201chand\u201d, which is a typical symbol of the Deaf community and people are expected to “touch” to competitions and topics through the Deaflympics.<\/p>\n
Circle
\nThe “touch” will lead to mutual exchanges and community connections like a “circle”.<\/p>\n
Flower
\nThe “flower” is a symbol of the future that will bloom as the circle expands.<\/p>\n
Color
\nThe Deaflympics attract many people from all over the world. The four colors of the Deaflympics logo express diversity.<\/p>\n
Tada-san says, “I don’t usually play sports, so the Deaflympics are a little far away from me.\u201d This time, when the students of Tsukuba University of Technology were given the chance to create designs, she felt the desire to “contribute to the Deaflympics with designs that I am good at\u201d.<\/p>\n
In addition to how to express “unique to Japan” and “unique to the Deaflympics,” the emphasis was on design that would be “easy to read, easy to understand, and easy to write for children and adults alike, regardless of disability\u201d.<\/p>\n
The main theme of the design was based on the “circle” because she could feel connection and progress toward the Deaflympics through watching the daily activities of Deaf athletes and her classmates who are aiming to compete in the Deaflympics as athletes.<\/p>\n
The Japanese flower “Sakura” is also used as a motif. The Games emblem was drawn with a single stroke of the brush, and the single line connects and forms a circle.
\nWe will continue to color Tokyo, Japan, and the world with this emblem for two more years!<\/p>\n
